At the beginning of every trip I tend to be a bit homesick. It is quite a change from being able to talk with family and friends everyday to not being able to talk with them at all. This trip was no different the first couple of days. This trip was no different, but I am finally into the swing of things and my trip is almost over. I began the day with the traditional breakfast and then headed to the Vatican. I took the Metro, which was a fun experience. I took a free tour of the Basillica, given by this girl who is from Fort Worth originally! She wants to be a tour guide at the Vatican and gives free tours in the meantime. I spent quite a bit of time here and took many, many pictures. I didn’t get a chance to tour the Sistine Chapel yet. I then went to walk past an old fort, which was used by the popes. From here it was to another piazza, this time Piazza de Neuvo. I then headed back to the hostel. After chilling out for a bit, I decided to take in a movie. Since my feet were tired from all of the walking, I figured this would be a nice change of pace. I found a movie that was playing in English (as much as I would have liked to see an Italian film, it would get on my nerves not being able to understand). The weird thing about movies is that even though they are in English, all of the previews are in Italian and the film has Italian subtitles. The other thing is that seats in the theater are assigned. At least in this one they were and you weren’t given a choice of where to sit. After the movie, I had dinner again with a half liter of vino and then back to the hostel to chill out for the rest of the night. At this point, I’m sure that some people are wondering why I haven’t gone out at night. There are a couple of reasons, first although I don’t mind going places by myself, I prefer to go to bars with others. Second, I wanted to be sure to get to bed at a decent time so that I could get up early and see the town. Ciao!
