Valparaiso is one of Chile’s most important ports. Most of the goods being imported and exported from the country go through here. Upon arriving here Thursday night, I hunted down a place to stay for the night. I ended up finding a place on top of one of the hills of Valparaiso. After getting my things settled in, it was off to find some dinner. The views from a top the hill were amazing! After dinner and some wine, it was time to call it a night. Friday morning, I headed to Vina del Mar to find a place to stay there. It was only a 15 minute train ride for me to get there and I planned on heading back to Valparaiso the next day to explore that city some more. I spent Friday exploring Vina del Mar. I went to a museum about Easter Island and walked around the shopping areas and along the beach. Saturday I headed back to Valparaiso for the day to explore the city there some more. With all of the hills in the city, they have cable cars that head up the hills which are very similar to the inclines of Pittsburgh. These cable cars are much smaller in scale though. I also went to Pablo Neruda’s House-Museum “La Sebastiana”. The house was quite interesting although very small. Sunday was the last day of my trip 🙁 Since it was a nice and sunny day, I figured that I would hang out around the beach and relax. Finally I figured it was time to catch the bus back to Santiago so that I could head to the airport. Back at the airport I ran into one of the guys that I met while I was at Torres del Paine. We talked for a bit and then parted ways to catch our planes. Luckily the flight back home was uneventful and I made it home without incident.
