Mental note….next time I travel, check if the country I´m going to has any holidays when I´m going to be there and make sure that I plan accordingly. I travelled from Torres del Paine to Punta Arenas on Oct 31 and was able to find a place to stay for two nights without a problem. My plan the next day was to book plane tickets for the following day and to get my laundry done. Unfortunately that day was All Saint´s Day and is a national holiday in Chile. That meant no plane tickets or laundry getting done that day. It did give me a chance to walk around the town though and I was able to get a tour to go see the penguins. There was also some excellent seafood to be eatten as well. This also marked the southern most point of my trip. While I had thought about cross the Straight of Magellan, I decided not to after talking with another traveler I met along the way. Thursday morning I got up and headed to the airline ticketing office to see if I could get a flight to Santiago that day. I was able to and bought the ticket for that afternoon. This gave me a bit of a chance to pick up a few things in town before heading to the airport. Unfortunately the rest of the day was spent traveling. After getting to Santiago, it was then a two hour bus trip to Valparaiso for the duration of my time in Chile.
