For the past four days I´ve been on the Navimag ferry traveling from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales. What an experience! I have so many stories to tell and pictures to show. Unfortunately I´m not going to type it all out here, so I´ll put in a few highlights. First in Puerto Montt, I met some awesome people at the hospedaje that I stayed at. While I didn´t hang out with them while killing time in Puerto Montt, we all met up at the station before boarding the ferry. Since the ferry wasn´t leaving until morning (even though it was boarding at 9:30pm), we decided to go grab some dinner. Around 11pm or so someone decided to go check to see if everyone had gotten on board yet. They came running back and said that we had to go. I guess the people running the ferry were wondering why we weren´t on board yet. We didn´t feel like sitting around waiting much. I ended up getting upgraded to a cabin with three other people in it. The trip was awesome! On the second day we were in the open ocean for most of the day and it was extremely rough. Most of the people ended up getting sea sick. It was interesting to see that there weren´t many people on deck for most of the day until we got into calmer waters. Unfortunately the pictures that I took don´t do the trip justice. After meeting and talking with people from all over on this trip, I have decided that should I ever have kids that they will speak at least three languages. So many of the travelers that I´ve met are multilingual. I wish that I had paid more attention in high school spanish class now. Tomorrow I leave bright and early for PN Torres del Paine to backpack around the park for 4 or 5 days. From there I´ll head to Punta Arenas for a day or two and then back to Santiago where I´ll try and make it to Vina del Mar for a day or two before I have to return home. It´s hard to believe how quickly the days have been going by already.
