I haven’t had access to a computer until now, so I haven’t been updating my blog everyday. I will be blogging about each day and back dating the entries.
The trip began with me getting up at 5am to head off to the airport to begin my trip. Upon arriving at SFO, I gathered my bags, met up with my friend Jeremy who would be traveling with me on this awesome excursion, and headed off to get the rental car. While I was hoping to get a Jeep Wangler, the rental car company did not have any available and we decided to go with a Chrystler Pacifica. One may ask why we did such a thing, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions we made. So after getting the car, we headed into San Francisco. Since we were both hungry, we decided to head straight to Chinatown and get some good food there. After lunch we walked around Chinatown a bit and then jumped on a cable car to head across town to Fisherman’s Wharf. We decided to jumped off early at Lombard Street to see the “crooked” street. It was then off to Fisherman’s Wharf to check out the area. We already had tickets to go see Alcatraz, but had time to kill so we walked around the area and went to see Ghirdelli Square. Finally it was time to get on the boat to Alcatraz. We got to walk around the island and check out the cells. Unfortunately many parts of the island were closed off because the birds that are there are protected by federal law and since they are nesting now they prevent visitors from being able to walk to areas where they could disturb the birds. After our tour of Alcatraz, we had to high tail it back to Chinatown to pick up the car before the parking garage closed. After getting the car, we headed to Little Italy for some dinner. By the time we were done with dinner, we were both extremely tired and decided to call it a day. We had decided to camp out for much of the trip, so we headed across the Golden Gate Bridge to find a place to camp. We ended up in a state park somewhere north of San Francisco. Neither of us were too interested in setting up a tent, so we decided to utilize the Pacifica and just sleep in the back. This is what made choosing the Pacifica a good choice. We were able to put down the seats in the back and just sleep there. It was quite convenient and a good way to end the day.
