So this past weekend a couple of the guys from work and I decided to head down to Austin. We left early Saturday morning and took the long way to Austin. Instead of taking I-35, we headed down through Granbury and Stephenville to Dublin. We visited the Dr. Pepper Bottling Plant in Dublin where we looked around for a bit. After a quick bite to eat, we headed out through Hico, Hamilton, Lampasas, Marble Falls, and finally to Austin. We stopped at Storm’s Drive-In for a hamburger along the way. When Elvis was stationed at Fort Hood he used to drive out here for a burger. Upon arriving in Austin we headed to the hotel to check in and relax for a bit. When then took off for Mount Bonnell to check out the view and then to Zilker Park to walk around for a bit. It was then time for dinner where we headed out to Pao’s Mandarin House for some awesome Chinese food. We were then off to 6th Street for an evening of drinking and hanging out. A late night breakfast was eatten at Kerbey Lane Cafe and then we finally headed back to the hotel to get some sleep.
Sunday morning we finally got up and were off to Guadalupe St. to get thai food at Thai Noodle Etc. We then walked around the UT campus for awhile and finally decided it was time to begin the journey back to DFW. Along the way we stopped in West, Texas for some great Czech food. We made it home without incident and everyone had a good time.
I continue to plan my roadtrip from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Check back for updates on that trip.
