So I’m starting my third week away from home and still don’t have a clue when I’ll be home. I was expecting to be in Porto, Portugal by now, but instead I’m in Madrid, Spain which wasn’t even planned for this trip! It’s the Motorola way 🙂
My first weekend I was in Lisbon and got to go siteseeing. On Saturday we drove downtown and walked around seeing the castle and other areas of town. Then we got in the car and headed up the river a bit to Expo98. This is an area that was built for the 1998 Expo held in Lisbon. From there we crossed the 12 kilometer long bridge and drove around and back to the city across the April 25th bridge. I have no clue why it is called this. Sunday began with a trip to the coast. We saw Boca do Inferno (Mouth of Hell), Cascias, drove up the coast to the western most point in continental Europe, and then inland to Sintra. I got a bit of sun both days, which was surprising.
On Tuesday I found out that they wanted us in Madrid for the rest of the week, so Wednesday we packed up the car and headed on a 6 hour roadtrip to Madrid. The drive was nice and I found that Spain was much better looking than Portugal in regards to the countryside. At least in the parts that I saw. Upon arriving in Madrid we began the search for the hotel. Two hours later we finally checked in!
So far I’ve only been in Madrid for one weekend. I’ve gotten to walk around the city and see many sites. We’ve tour the Royal Palace and seen many Plazas. I’m not sure what the rest of the trip has in store for me. Hopefully things go well and we end up back in Lisbon, but I could always end up leaving early too. I’ll just have to wait and see.
