Now I know that people are going to ask me if Rome is everything I expected (and if they don’t, here’s some info on it anyway). First I was expecting all kinds of gypsy kids trying to steal stuff from me, ugly women with lots of hair, and plenty of historic sites. So far only one of those has shown to be true. I guess that’s what I get for listening to stories from everyone. I had been told to watch for gypsy children trying to open my bag and steal my stuff. I have not run into any of that yet. I doesn’t mean I won’t, but I think the cold weather is keeping them away.
I don’t remember who told me that there were plenty of hairy ugly women in Rome. For some reason I’m thinking it was my friend Matt. For those of you who know Matt, you’ll know that his taste in women isn’t something to always be proud of 🙂 I’m not saying that I like hairy women either here! Most of the women I have seen have been quite pretty, although none of them compare to all of the beautiful women Texas has to offer 🙂 While I’m sure that there are some out there as has been described, I have not seen them, then again I haven’t been looking at each and every female I pass.
There has definitely been plenty of historic sites. I have pictures to prove it too! I don’t know how much walking I’ve done lately, but I sure know that my feet can’t take much more. On my way back to the hostel tonight, I was almost limping. Guess that what I get for walking around in shoes that are made for skateboarding.
One thing to mention that I did not expect from Rome is the palm trees. I don’t think I’ve ever been anywhere it is this cold that has palm trees. The temperature here is around 5C. It was definitely warmer when I left home. I do enjoy seeing the palm trees though, especially in the ruins around the city.
Well, I have plenty more thoughts on various subjects that I’m sure everyone wants to know about 🙂 I’ll be posting more later. I’m off to have some homemade pasta for dinner. Ciao!
